Where did your love for sneakers start?

My love for vintage products stems from being a 90s kid, growing up around the Bulls era. Paired with having a more minimal aesthetic today. My go-to’s are always classic silhouettes and colorways.

What’s your relationship with sneakers?

My relationship with sneakers has been a long journey because I’ve always been an athlete and I dress for my lifestyle and being practical. So whether it’s going to track practice, to class, or work, it was always something I always wore, just because it really fit my lifestyle.

Tell us about that special pair and where did you have to HUNT for them?

From being an athlete, I was a runner my whole life. One day I was searching for a shoe and came across these older New Balances [New Balance 1062] which were a pair from 2004. The price was only $15 and that was so far below retail!  It’s a shoe that honestly brings me back to my old running days. So that was something that was really cool that I came across.

What do you look for when browsing for vintage sneakers?
My criteria when looking for vintage sneakers is one condition: How close is it to that original condition. If you would have brought it new to the price point. Is it higher or below? I would prefer to get it as close to retail if not below especially for older sneakers and generally older running shoes that are not that high in demand. So that’s what I look for when looking for sneakers.

What are your top 3 vintage sneaker cops?
So my top three vintage sneaker cops… I’ll start with the Nike Air Force 1 Low AF100 x Roc-a-fella White. These are my favorite because I’m a music head. Rockefeller, that whole conglomerate in the early 2000s, really resonates with me. My second pair would be my CDP Nike Air Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement]. As you can see they don’t even have a sole anymore and they’re yellowing but they’re a classic sneaker. I went to New York to actually get this shoe. And lastly, the all-white Charles Barkley’s [ Nike Air Max2 High CB 94 Charles Barkley White Metallic Silver ]. They’re such a clean shoe but it has that vintage heritage and old-school basketball feel to it. So those would be my top threes.

What’s your approach to buying vintage sneakers?
My approach to buying vintage sneakers is wearing them. Everything I buy I wear and I don’t believe in just letting your sneakers sit. Literally, the reason is to wear them. They’re going straight to feet because in my head they’re already matched with an outfit. That’s my mentality when it comes to wearing vintage sneakers.

Any insider tips on wearing vintage sneakers?
So with vintage sneakers, I actually do have to walk more carefully and I’ve had to gorilla glue the soles of my Barkley’s. While I was walking they started to clap one day. You do have to pay attention to if they’re deteriorating or things of that sort.

So what’s next on your list?
The next sneaker on my list is the Nike Sacai Waffle. Some people may have it some may not but I want the black-brown colorway just because it’s a classic shoe but the Sakai collab makes it a little bit more elevated and more creative. But it’s a shoe that I feel can go with my aesthetic of still being classic but having a little bit of edge to it. So the Sacai waffle Nike sneakers are my next step.
