Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Sweetest Swing”

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 "Sweetest Swing" is a baseball-inspired colorway of Ken Griffey Jr. 's former signature shoe with Nike that was released in June 2021. The "Sweetest Swing" joins several iconic, original colorways of the Air Griffey Max to release in 2021 in honor of the performance shoe's 25-year anniversary. Griffey wore the silhouette as a member of the Seattle Mariners during the 1996 baseball season. Design wise, white dotted leather forms the base and white tumbled leather appears along the eyelets. A giant gold Swoosh is embroidered on the forefoot in reference to the 10 Gold Glove Awards won by "Junior" during his Hall of Fame career. The heel overlay features etch markings that mimic the woodgrain of a baseball bat. Red contrast stitching accents the aforementioned black leather overlay on the heel. Griffey's signature "Sweetest Swing" logo with Nike is embroidered on the back of the shoe. The red nylon pull tab is in reference to the primary team uniform color of the Cincinnati Reds, the National League team Griffey played for after being traded from the Mariners in 1999. The "24" branding on the black leather adjustable ankle strap honors the jersey number worn by Griffey during his time with the Mariners. Release date: June 18, 2021
