Take Five with Boss, Musician, and DJ Martina McFlyy
From Houston to Atlanta, Martina McFlyy takes quick five to chat about her sneaker game.
Where are you from? Born in Houston, TX — raised in Atlanta, GA
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? I’ve played the Bassoon since I was 12. 🙂
What’s your go-to sneaker? I have at least 3 go-to sneakers: Vapormax, Chuck Taylor, Yeezy 500
How many sneakers do you have? Too many to count. Definitely over 300
How would you define a “sneakerhead”? I don’t really like the term sneakerhead. 😬
When styling yourself, what comes first? Shoes or outfit? Outfit first ✅
What’s one sneaker that is on your wishlist? Cream Off White Jordan 4s
What’s the last book you read? I’m literally reading 3 books at the moment...I finally finished Elaine Welteroth’s More Than Enough, currently reading The 4-Hour Workweek
How would you define yourself in three words? Outside The Box.
If you could pick one song to be the soundtrack of your life, what would it be and why? Omg LOLLLL 😂 as a dj/musician I can’t ... this changes monthly, daily, yearly...it depends on where I’m at in my ever evolving life.
How has your hometown influenced your style/taste in sneakers? I think growing up in the south and being the only girl in my family I was always influenced by what my brothers and their friends were wearing. There’s a sauce in the South that made me more open-minded to even the most “masculine” sneakers but mixing them with a dress or a skirt since I was in high school.
If you had to create a hashtag for your life, what would it be? #foreverevolving
Common Ace wants to uplift YOUR voice!
As a BLACK WOMAN there’s a lot I can say here but I saw this on Instagram last week and it really resonated with me: “ Black people deserve to experience JOY without struggle.” PERIOD.
