You've probably seen her #bun around. Meet illustrator and designer Sophia Chang, and also coincidentally, co-founder of Common Ace!
Tell us about yourself
Q: How would you describe yourself in one word?
A: Bossy. I have a tendency to tell people what to do...Ha.
"I even did a watercolor painting of the original first pair of Air Force Ones I’ve ever had.”
Q: What was the first pair that mattered?
A: The Air Force Ones. I was in 8th grade, and one of my classmates came into class, with this fresh Levi’s Jeans jacket and fresh pair of Air Force Ones. I swear everyone in our classroom stood up and crowded around her, and we were just marveling at her shoes. So that was THE shoe for me.
Q: Do you still have your first pair?
A: I still have my original pair and I wore them throughout high school - the sole is all yellow. I even did a watercolor painting of the original first pair of Air Force Ones I had.
Q: How does that first pair make you feel?
A: It is a symbol of my youth, my high school days, and just all the great memories I have.
Q: What trend are you feeling lately?
A: Dare I say.... I’ve gotten into Crocs recently just because they’re so comfortable!! That’s been the pair that I’ve had on rotation.
Q: What was the most recent pair you purchased?
A: I just got my first pair of dunks...ever. It’s the Off-White Nike dunks. I’ve been wanting them for some time, and it’s been a really fun year, so I got em!
Q: How do you define your style?
A: A big part of my style comes from my lifestyle in New York. So a lot of my sense of style comes from within what they call "athleisure" today, but mixing a bit of sports bra, workout clothes with lifestyle, streetwear, and then trickling in a bit of high fashion as well. But ALWAYS sneakers. Always sneakers to match the outfit.
